Referred to as a meme this is like a 21st century version of a chain letter except we're not exchanging $$ or recipes or even good wishes for luck but rather we're giving our community a chance for a glimpse of what inspires, interests, or edifies.
The Rules:
So here's mine:
- Pick up the nearest book (of at least 123 pages).
- Open the book to page 123.
- Find the fifth sentence.
- Post the next three sentences (sentences 6-9).
- Tag five people who blog posts you read on a regular basis.

- On September 17 they resigned themselves to wintering on the open pack ice, and must have known that this meant probably death. Son Q refers to memes as almost viral thoughts replicating thru the populace. One of his personal sites was named memeslut, I guess to indicate that he would sleep with whatever idea came along. I just hope he's practicing safe thinking....
My passage is from The Frozen Ship: The Histories and Tales of Polar Exploration and the passage is called "Ballooning to the North Pole: The Andree Expedition." The introduction kept me busy for a a couple weeks but once I got into the actually accounts it was a quick read. Or maybe it was the atmosphere of being on the ferry to Sitka.
OK, so I am a bit behind with my blog reading :-) I just saw this and will now follow the directions. I am not sure I have 5 bloggers who are different from your bloggers, but we will see what happens. - SS
